Thinking About A Vacation In Mexico?
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008I have always wanted to go to Mexico and it’s high up on my wish list of destinations. Mexico vacations for me would hopefully be a combination of beaches, historical interest and soaking up the night life and the culture. Mexico has a varied terrain with desert, tropical rainforest and mountains. It also has some great cities and tourist resorts. This country has such a long and fascinating history. I’m also a big fan of Mexican food and art.
One of the most popular destinations is Acapulco. It’s a great beach resort and it’s world famous for the bold cliff divers who jump into the shallow waters below with the shifting tides. It all started in 1934 and it’s the part of the local culture of Mexico vacations that tourists love to see. Some may even be brave enough to have a go themselves. Make sure you’ve got that travel insurance sorted!
Guadalajara is another place of interest on the Pacific coast. This town has an impressive cathedral and museum. It also has a multi story indoors market. Mexico vacations are famous for their beach resorts and Puerto Vallarta is popular for its bays and beaches. You can do many activities there such as windsurfing, fishing and golf. It’s also popular with snorkellers who like to explore the underwater caves. The town is also known for its art exhibits, theatre and live music with rock, jazz and Latin American groups.
No trip to Mexico would be complete without a visit to the capital, Mexico City. Mexico vacations are ideal if you’ve plenty time to get to know the city which has the most museums of any city in the world. The old City Center has many historical buildings which you’ll come across as you wind round the narrow streets. There are some delightful cafes and stores and a tall tower with a viewing gallery. There is also an opera house designed in an Art Deco style.
The Coyoacan District is a lively area with an open air market specializing in arts and crafts, with clothes too. You can get your fortune told and get a piercing or tattoo. There are many African and Aztec dance displays. If you fancy a boat trip on the canal, you can board one in the Xochimilco District. Mexico vacations are steeped in history and the Tlatelocco district is the place to see a 16th century palace and an Aztec pyramid.
